Thanks to a grant from the Heart of England Community Foundation’s ‘Doing Things Differently’ fund, the Good Shepherd has launched a new podcast.
Via the podcast, we will be telling the stories both of those who access our services and many other key figures around the area with an interesting tale to tell!
In the third episode (Click above to listen), ahead of World Hepatitis Day on Wednesday. July 28th, we are joined by Paul Huggett, peer support lead with the Hepatitis C trust in Leicestershire, and Steve Hughes, staff member at the Good Shepherd.
Both Paul and Steve have previously been diagnosed with Hepatitis C, a virus affecting the liver which can cause substantial damage, and actually be life-threatening if not treated.
A simple test and treatment process is now available which can cure Hepatitis C, but early testing and detection is vital.
In this podcast Paul tells us more about the virus, as well as his own incredible story, which saw him experience addiction having been a promising golfer which saw him take up a scholarship in America.
