Volunteer Drop-In Session For Exciting New Project

The Good Shepherd are holding a drop-in session at the new community café and shop in the City Centre for people interesting in volunteering on the project.

The Central Community Shop and café, situated in the historic Queens Building, is the result of a partnership between the Good Shepherd, Wolves Foundation and City of Wolverhampton Council, and will offer affordable food, toiletries and household items for registered shoppers.

Good Shepherd staff and existing volunteers will oversee the operation of the community shop, but there are additional roles available for volunteers to play their part in a new and exciting project.

People who are interested in finding out more can attend the drop-in session at the shop at the Queens Building between 1pm and 3pm on Thursday, June 29th

“With our partners, we are really looking forward to this exciting project to bring something both new – but also really important – for the city of Wolverhampton,” says Lucy Cox, Food & Advice Project Manager at the Good Shepherd.

“A lot of work has been done to prepare both for what will be a flagship community shop among several in the local area, and also a social enterprise café and multi-use space to deliver additional support and interventions.

“Alongside staff and volunteers who are already earmarked to help at the shop, we are in need of further support in different areas including serving customers, registering new members and helping with stock.

“Being part of the wider volunteering team promises to be a really exciting and fulfilling opportunity, and we are holding this drop-in session just for people who may be interested to come along and find out more.”

Prospective volunteers can pop into the Queen’s Building at Victoria Square near the bus station, at any time between 1pm and 3pm on June 29th to find out more.
