KEY WORKER – EMPLOYMENT READY PROJECT

Salary: £27,865 per annum.

Hours: 35 hrs per week (full time)

Fixed Term 12 months with possible extension.

The Good Shepherd has a long history of supporting the most disadvantaged people in Wolverhampton. Our mission is to end homelessness, support recovery, and create pathways out of poverty. 

We provide, food practical support, 1-1 and group support for people who are homeless, have multiple complex needs, vulnerable families, and people on low incomes. We support people to obtain accommodation, move towards employment, access training or education and develop skills to build self-reliance.

Role Summary

In this role, you will manage a caseload of clients who have experienced homelessness, addiction, or involvement in the criminal justice system. You will provide tailored employability advice, one-to-one support, and deliver workshops aimed at helping clients develop the skills and confidence they need to rebuild their lives.

You’ll support with our LEAP project, providing a crucial stepping stone for clients in the early stages of recovery. By collaborating with partner agencies and working alongside our Peer Navigators, you’ll ensure clients receive the comprehensive support they need.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Complete initial assessments, risk assessments and risk management plans ensuring a high standard of case management.
  • Work with a caseload of people who have experience of homelessness, addiction, and/or the criminal justice system that want to improve their chances at moving into training, education and employment.
  • Provide employability advice and a range of interventions with the aim of supporting them to improve their employability, access training, volunteering, and move towards employment.
  • Lead on and develop the Good Shepherd structured volunteering programme for people in early stages of their recovery journey.
  • Work with Peer Navigators from our LEAP team to provide additional support.
  • Signpost and make referrals to external agencies and build positive working relationships with partner agencies across the city.
  • Deliver one to one’s, workshops and group sessions.
  • Collect, collate, and interpret data that is required to report on the outcomes achieved through this work.
  • Record and update service user activity in line with GS Confidentiality Policy.
  • Maintain a high level of professional boundaries in line with GS Safeguarding Policy.
  • Observe all Health and Safety regulations related to the role and comply with GS Policies and Procedures.

Person Specification

Qualifications 

  • Qualification or demonstrable relevant experience at QCF/NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care DESIRABLE

Experience, Knowledge & Skills 

  • Experience working with vulnerable adults.
  • Experience completing assessments, needs assessments, and risk assessments.
  • Experience working with employability services.
  • Experience using a computerised database/CRM to record and update information.
  • Knowledge of homelessness and related issues.
  • Experience delivering employment advice and homelessness interventions. DESIRABLE
  • Understanding of recovery and strengths-based ways of working. DESIRABLE

CAFE ASSISTANT (CASUAL) – POMEGRANATE CAFE

Hours: Negotiable. Part time contracts available between the hours of 8am and 3pm Tuesday – Saturday

Pomegranate Café is a Social Enterprise Café – a project of The Good Shepherd based at Queen’s Building in Wolverhampton City Centre.

Open to the public, Pomegranate is a vibrant café, offering good quality coffee, cakes and lunch time specials. The café will be used to raise awareness, engage the community and provide a space for community related events.

Role Summary
To effectively support the day-to-day running of the café. Providing excellent customer service, quality food and drink; working to high standards of Food Safety and Hygiene.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Welcoming customers, taking orders, and using tills and ordering systems.
• Operating coffee machines and other equipment.
• Food preparation
• Accurately handling cash or cashless transactions and providing payment receipts.
• Tracking inventory levels to ensure the café has adequate stock supplies.
• Responding to customer questions, feedback, or complaints.
• Working effectively as part of a team, including working alongside staff/volunteers with lived experience.
• Informing customers about menu items, products and special events.
• Ensuring that food is handled in line with appropriate policies and in compliance with food safety regulations.
• Ensuring the overall cleanliness of the service and food preparation areas, including waste disposal and recycling and cleaning of customer facilities.
• Opening and closing the establishment and completing end of shift checks.
• Observe all health and safety regulations related to the role and always complying with Good Shepherd Policies and Procedures.
